LIVING SPACES ON THE LOWER LEVEL

This
basement provides a comfortable family living space, without
the feeling of being in a basement. The main room features
a wide screen TV, home theater system, gas fireplace, and
secluded exercise area behind the television.
The
exercise area remained open by framing out an opening and
hanging a suspended stained glass picture. This creates the
illusion of a wall behind the home entertainment center.

As
a focal point for the room, a flueless gas fireplace was installed
and finished off with ceramic tile to complete the southwestern
theme desired.
The
heater room is used as a storage for toys, keeping the main
family room clean. Off the main room is a computer room and
laundry area with ample storage.

 This
700+ square foot walk in basement was built to be finished with
it's sliding door and double windows. The owner wanted to have
a family room, home theater system, along with a home office.
The
design was presented that allowed for a spacious family area
plus the benefit of a private home office with French doors.
The French Doors allow the homeowner to close them for privacy
or leave them open to create a feeling of openness. They also
allow the sunlight to filter into the office area.
The
home office was networked to allow computer access from all
bedrooms. Additional insulation was added to walls and ceilings
due to the home theater system.

With
two teenage family members and the need to create a home office,
the basement was the logical location within the house to
expand. There was also a need an organized storage area. The
solution was to create a room for the home office along with
an area for much needed storage.
The
basement was converted into a beautiful living area that measured
approximately 14x15 in size, with the back of the basement
converted into storage that included walk in closets and additional
closets that boast an impressive 150' in wire shelving.
