Powder
Room Remodel
Although
only 3'x8' in size, this powder room makes a huge statement.
Class and style make up this main level half bath. The deep
red walls allow the fixtures and moulding to pop, bringing attention
to the beautiful lines of the sink, toilet, and baseboard.
The
original powder room was typical of it's 1980's with an almond
melamine vanity base, marbleized vanity top, and green mosaic
floor tile.
All
fixtures, tile, and accessories were purchased locally as stock
items. As with many remodel jobs, the customer is given a spreadsheet
with the fixtures and major items required for the remodel.
Before spending a dollar, the customer has a range of cost for
the remodel job, based on their preferences of quality. The
customer can then shop at the recommended stores and suppliers
and pick out all the items to make their dream bathroom a reality.

The
choice in a pedestal sink as opposed to a new vanity makes the
bathroom appear larger and less cluttered. Being a powder room,
storage under the sink was not an important concern with the
customer. The 8" on center, brushed nickel faucet lends
a sophistication to the overall appearance of the sink area.
The
floor tile was installed diagonally, taking away from the overall
squareness of the room. It also creates a sense of making the
room feel larger. The high profile baseboard moulding enhances
the overall elegance of the room.
When
is a toilet not just a toilet? When it can flush a dozen golf
balls at one time. The American Standard Williamsburg was the
choice for this remodel. This toilet has a high profile tank.
Because the corners are mitred, it appears smaller. Another
key feature to make a small bathroom seem larger. It was recommended
that the customer take the manufacturer's word on the 12 golf
ball promise.
