The
old deck had so many problems that the homeowners were afraid
to walk on it. It sagged in the middle due. The deck was added
on to by the previous owner. This created a sag in the center.
There were no footings for the support posts. The railing
posts had rotted. It was clear that the time to bring out
the chainsaw had come. The deck was completely removed.
The
new deck is constructed of ACQ pressure treated lumber for
the frame. Two 2x10 beams support the structure and are anchored
into six 12x36" piers. All visible surfaces of the deck
are constructed of Trex "Accents". A two toned effect
was created using Saddle and Woodland Brown. Since the neighboring
deck was so close, a partial lattice screen was installed.
This allows the homeowner to use climbing plants that will
create additional privacy.
