L Shaped Deck

The existing 9'x12' deck on the rear of this home had began to show it's age and also developed some structural issues.

The proposed design enlarged the deck considerably and took advantage of the home's angles to provide a distinct appearance unique to the house. The customer's wish was to bring color into the design, while minimizing maintenance.

Trex "accents" decking was chosen in a saddle finish. Western Red Cedar made up the railings, posts, balusters, and fascia. The lattice is maintenance free vinyl. Framing was completed with pressure treated lumber.

The new deck measures 22.5' in length and 18' in depth and is more in proportion with the size of the home.

To compliment the angle of the house, both corners of the deck were mitered. This, along with the centered stairs, provided a symmetrical appearance when approaching the deck.

An open style stairway allows for the combination of colors to be viewed from any angle. It also provides easier cleaning of the steps, eliminating crevices for dirt and debris to accumulate.
